The understanding of patriotism has a deep theoretical tradition that goes back centuries. Plato already has arguments that the motherland is more expensive than the father and mother. In a more developed form, love for the fatherland, as the highest value, is considered in the works of such thinkers as Machiavelli, Rousseau.
